Sample Prayer

We encourage kids to ask Jesus to be their Savior in their own words. Below is a sample prayer you can use as a guide to help lead your child to trust God!

Dear Heavenly Father,

I know I am a sinner. I know my sin should separate me from You forever. I believe your son, Jesus, died for me. I accept His death as a payment for my sin. Thank you for loving me and for giving me the gift of Jesus so I could live with you in Heaven. Come into my life and be my Savior and friend forever.

In Jesus name, Amen.

What do you do now?
Having trusted Christ as your only way to heaven, here’s how you can begin to grow in your new relationship with Him:

  • Tell God what’s on your mind through prayer (Philippians 4:6-7).
  • Read the Bible daily (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Start in Philippians.
  • Worship God with other Believers in church (Hebrews 10:24-25).
  • Tell others about Jesus (Matthew 4:19).
  • Get baptized (Matthew 28:19-20)

Baptism

Is Baptism what makes me a Christian?
Baptism does not make you a Christian or a Christ follower - it shows that you have already started following Jesus. Baptism does not “save” you, only believing in Jesus and what He did for us on the cross can do that. It’s a symbol (kind of like when you wear a wedding ring) that shows the world the commitment you make in your heart to God.

Why do I have to get dunked under the water when I am baptized?
It shows a picture of what Jesus did for us. (1 Corinthians 15-3-4)
It shows the world that I am a brand new person. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Jesus was dunked all the way into the water. We do our best to do what Jesus did! (Matthew 3:16)
