What to Expect for the Class (February 28th)
There is no cost to participate in the Child Dedication Class.
This class is required in order to participate in the dedication ceremony on Sunday, March 3.
Dinner will be provided for you and your four guests. We want this night to be meaningful for you and your immediate family. (You will be able to invite any friends and extended family to the Celebration part on Sunday, March 3.)
We will have a photographer at the church to take family pictures if you would like and this will be available starting at 5:30.
You may dress casually or get dressed up for your family picture. It is up to you.
The class should end at 7:30 at the latest. The night will include dinner, worship, a message from Kenny Dean, and prayer.
Child Dedication is different from baptism. We believe a child must be old enough to understand what it means to put their faith in Jesus Christ in order to be baptized. Child Dedication is where parents dedicate themselves, their parenting efforts, and their child to God so that when a child is old enough to understand, they will know the way to follow Jesus and then may choose to be baptized.
The Child Dedication CLASS is not the moment you will stand in front of everyone to let them know your decision as parents. This moment will happen on March 3.
